Every routine has a cream at the bottom of it. Most have two — one for the day that's too light for the night, one for the night that's too much for the day — and a drawer to prove it. PRIMA MATERIA is one cream. It goes on at seven in the morning and again at eleven at night and it's right both times.

A hexapeptide-11 and dipalmitoyl hydroxyproline complex to improve elasticity and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles; two weights of hyaluronic acid with sodium PCA for the balanced hydration and the visible plump. Vitamins C and E and ginkgo to defend the work. Jojoba, mango seed butter, strawberry and blueberry seed oils carry it in a texture that's lightweight going on and nourishing once it's there — absorbs easily, no shine at nine, no film on the pillow. Over time, by supporting the skin's own renewal, the face reads firmer and younger.

What is in it

Hexapeptide-11

At 2%. A signalling peptide used for firmness and the look of fine lines — the reason this is a treatment and not a moisturiser.

Dipalmitoyl hydroxyproline

An amino-acid derivative that works on firmness alongside the peptide. Slow, cumulative, unglamorous.

Sodium PCA

Part of skin's own natural moisturising factor. Replaces what washing takes out, and keeps the hydration from evaporating off again.

Tocopherol (vitamin E)

Vitamin E. Protects the oils in the bottle as much as the skin they go on.

Ginkgo biloba leaf extract

At 1%. Antioxidant and circulatory support, sitting under the peptides.

Jojoba seed oil

Technically a wax ester, and close enough to skin's own sebum that it absorbs instead of sitting on top. Conditions without the grease.

Hyaluronic acid

Humectant; pulls water into the upper layers and holds it there, so skin reads plump rather than merely damp. Used here at multiple molecular weights so it works at more than one depth.

Ascorbyl palmitate (vitamin C)

The oil-soluble, more stable form of vitamin C — brightening and antioxidant, without the instability that keeps the pure acid form in dark bottles.

How to use

Morning and evening, on clean skin. A fingertip, warmed between the hands, pressed across face and neck, upward from the jaw. After PEPTIDE ONE and JUVENTAS for the full peptide routine; alone if minimal is the point. On ACIES or CORTEX nights, it goes on last, as usual.

One cream, both ends of the day, and a drawer with one fewer jar in it. Upward strokes, morning and night. Daddy likes anything that removes a decision.
