Snowy (Milou), Wire Fox Terrier From Tintin T-Shirt
A white wire fox terrier, drawn in the clean unbroken outline that made Belgian comics legible in any language.
Milou in the original French, Snowy in English, and the only character in the series who has been there since the first page in 1929. The style is the thing worth owning: flat colour, no cross-hatching, an even line of constant weight — a way of drawing so influential it has a name, and so disciplined that a dog rendered in about nine strokes reads instantly as a specific dog with opinions.
Daddy maintains that a man may own one shirt with a dog on it. He owns three, and he does not want to discuss it.
The shirt itself is the good kind of basic: combed ring-spun cotton, preshrunk, side-seamed so it hangs straight, taped shoulders so the collar doesn’t twist after the fortieth wash. It fits like the tee you’ve had for ten years, on day one.
Curator’s note
Clean-line graphics photograph well and crowd easily. One print, plain ground, done.
